Camera
· Establishing shot overlooking a church or castle of some sort
· Long shot of car in London, tracking shot of same car going down motorway, through woodland area, pulling up to a house, who is in the car, where are they going and why?
· In the corner of a MS a wardrobe door that was previously shut opens again by itself, is there something in there? Is this significant?
Mise en scene
· Lighting- very first shot, dark lighting, silhouette of a building
· Variety of interior and exterior settings, on roads, in a home office, in a hallway
· Door out of the office is disguised as a bookcase indicating mystery
· Shot of car driving down a woodland road, then next shot of the same car at a house which is secluded and private, does this play a part in the film being so remote?
Editing
· Parallel cutting used to connect the two places, the person we see in the car we find out ends up where the other people being interviewed are
Sound
· Non diegetic soundtrack is used throughout the whole opening sequence, the ringing of the doorbell
· Diegetic sound-foot steps, the car engine speech. There is lots of speech in this opening but not much between characters, talking at the camera.
